The Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) and the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP) have, momentarily, called off the invitation of interest parties to a 2nd Stakeholder Meeting for the General Regulation of the New Regulatory Model previously to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, on April 15th – 16th. The decision was taken due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread crisis and the state of public emergency announced by the Brazilian government.

The event’s main objective was to analyze the results of first phase of the regulatory impact analysis (RIA) – from stakeholders’ inputs - carried out previously (January 16th - February 29th 2020) and to formulate possible alternatives in order to solve the identified regulatory problems. Even though momentarily cancelled, it presents an opportunity to stakeholders to engage in the building of a New Regulatory Model by INMETRO.

Among other RIA participants, there were contributions from the Brazilian Conformity Assessment Association (ABRAC), Brazilian Technical Standards Association (ABNT), Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industries (ABIMAQ), Brazilian Association of Importers of Machinery and Industrial Equipment (ABIMEI), Brazilian Association of the Electrical and Electronic Industry (ABINEE) and the National Institute for Product Conformity Assessment (INNAC).
