On 14 May 2015, the fifth annual meeting of the Sino-German Working Group on Product Safety took place at the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) in Beijing. Chaired by Department Head Sun Wenkang (Department of Supervision on Inspection, AQSIQ) and Deputy Head Liu Weijun (Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China, CNCA), results of the Sino-German cooperation on product safety were discussed with Department Head Dr.Wolfgang Scheremet (Industrial Policy, BMWi).

Both sides emphasized the high significance of the bilateral cooperation on quality infrastructure, which is of growing importance due to the increasing trade volume between the two nations. Last year, the implementation of the working plan of the WG, signed by BMWi, AQSIQ and CNCA, made crucial progress through the professional exchange in many project lines.

Among other topics, the results of the jointly commissioned study by BMWi and AQSIQ on the effects of the latest reform in the Chinese export inspection system on German and Chinese companies were presented.

Furthermore, the outcomes of the first, successful annual meeting of the sub-working group “Product Safety in the Automobile Industry” were presented and very well received.

CNCA paid particular attention to the German concept “Industrie 4.0”, for which the Chinese partners see a high potential for cooperation in the context of the strategy “China 2025”.

Both sides consider the progress of the bilateral cooperation to date as a great success. Therefore, the implementation of the WG’s working plan will be continued and further deepened by additional topics and aspects.
