A strong week for German-Indonesian collaboration on quality infrastructure concludes with the third Annual Meeting

Indonesia

This week in Indonesia demonstrated what bilateral cooperation can achieve when it is rooted in practical needs and shared ambition.

Over the course of several days, the German delegation engaged with Indonesian partners across business, policy and technical institutions. The week reflected the depth of German-Indonesian cooperation, reaching from roundtables with industry representatives at EKONID (AHK Indonesien), to strategic discussions with EuroCham Indonesia (The European Business Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia), to hands-on technical exchanges at BBKFK and PT. Qualis Indonesia in Tangerang.

The highlight was the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Indonesian-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure, jointly led by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie and the Kementerian Perindustrian Republik Indonesia - the first annual meeting of GPQI since 2022 and the first to take place in Indonesia.

Bringing together more than 50 participants from government, industry, and quality infrastructure institutions, the meeting focused on advancing shared priorities in three critical areas:

  • Supporting the implementation of the I–EU CEPA through stronger alignment of quality infrastructure systems
  • Enhancing product safety through standardization and more efficient certification processes
  • Driving the digitalization of quality infrastructure to enable interoperable, and future-ready trade systems, i.e. through the Digital Product Passport

This exchange reinforces a shared understanding: quality infrastructure is not a technical side topic but a strategic enabler for trade and innovation.

A sincere thank you to all partners and participants for their commitment and insights throughout the week, especially to our partner, the Ministry of Industry jointly hosting the Annual meeting and their valuable support throughout the week.
