First Meeting of the German-Indonesian Quality Infrastructure Working Group
The annual meeting of the working group was attended by over 80 high-ranking representatives of the German and Indonesian private sector. In addition, important quality infrastructure (QI) institutions from both countries participated. These included the Indonesian National Standards Body (BSN), the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, the German Accreditation Body (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle - DAkkS) and the German Institute for Standardisation (Deutsches Institut für Normung - DIN).
Stefan Schnorr, Director General of Digital and Innovation Policy at the German Federal Ministry (BMWi), and Doddy Rahadi, Head of the Agency for Industrial Standardisation and Services Policy at the Indonesian Ministry of Industry led the event. Stefan Schnorr emphasised the potential of bilateral cooperation. The aim of the intensive exchange between the two countries is to increase product safety and protect consumers. In their cooperation both countries want to promote digitalisation and innovation, as well as the global reduction of technical barriers to trade.
At the beginning of the event, both ministries agreed on the topics of cooperation for the years 2021 and 2022. Focusing on standardisation, accreditation and conformity assessment as well as product safety. The discussion basis for the work plan was formed by topic proposals from companies and QI institutions from Indonesia and Germany.
The bilateral work plan for 2021-2022 was then signed. This defines the orientation of the cooperation. Topics of future cooperation are regulatory challenges and regulatory practices, framework conditions for Industrie 4.0, industrial safety as well as certification and technical regulation of electromobility.
