SENAI, VDMA and GPQI present workshop on open standards for mining equipment
Last Wednesday, 27 April, the Brazilian National Service for Industrial Apprenticeship (Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial - SENAI) hosted an online workshop on open standards. It highlighted new trends in and impacts on the mining industry. The German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau - VDMA) and the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) supported the initiative.
VDMA publishes new standards for the mining sector
SENAI is one of the five largest professional education complexes in the world. It plays an important role in modernising and innovating the industrial landscape of Brazil. Open standards are essential to achieve this objective.
VDMA recently published new standards for the mining sector. These standards concern, for example, the application of Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) Companion Specifications on mining equipment. The publication can be accessed on VDMA’s website.
VDMA took a key role in the publication of the sector-specific standards. The association served as a platform for exchange between experts, the private sector and standardisation specialists, among others. This helped create and update OPC UA for the specific needs of the mining industry. For this reason, SENAI, VDMA and GPQI decided to organise a workshop on open standards in the mining segment.
Experts discuss the new standards in a digital workshop
More than 130 public and private actors, specialists and academics on the mining sector attended the workshop. It focused on the implementation of Industrie 4.0 concepts, such as machine learning, interoperability and integration between value chains. The speakers took up the input from the industry and presented the newly published standards and their applications.
Further events and workshops on open standards are planned as part of the German-Brazilian dialogue on quality infrastructure. Please check the event section of our website to stay up to date.
