Shaping the Future of Indo-German Quality Infrastructure: Priorities Set for 10th Annual Meeting

India

On 30 April 2025, over 30 German stakeholders from industry associations and Quality Infrastructure (QI) bodies gathered for a key planning session ahead of the 10th annual meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure.

Hosted by the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI) in partnership with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), the meeting focused on aligning priorities and setting the stage for deeper cooperation with India. Key partners such as VDA, VDMA, ZVEI, DAkkS, DIN, and DKE joined the discussions.

Opening the session, Ms. Gerhild Roth from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) praised ongoing collaboration—highlighting successes like the BIS certification guide and the GPQI Machinery Safety guideline—and stressed the importance of aligning efforts amid global challenges.

Top agenda items included navigating India's evolving technical regulations and Quality Control Orders (QCOs), harmonising standards, fostering cooperation in the domain of accreditation along with easing certification processes and exploring digital tools like the Digital Product Passport (DPP). GPQI India, prior to the session, shared a survey with the stakeholders to gather insights into the key areas of cooperation between German QI bodies, industry, and relevant Indian partners.

The meeting reinforced a shared vision: to build a more aligned, transparent, and trade-friendly QI framework between India and Germany—benefiting businesses and consumers alike.
