The 11th Annual Meeting advances shared priorities for Indo-German cooperation on Quality Infrastructure

The Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure convened its 11th Annual Meeting on 24 June 2026, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry and quality infrastructure institutions from both countries in a virtual format.

Jointly led by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD), Government of India, the meeting provided an opportunity to review progress achieved over the past year and identify priorities for future cooperation.

More than 50 participants, including representatives from BAM, DIN, DKE, DAkkS, PTB, BIS, MeitY, IGCC, Department of Commerce and Siemens, exchanged perspectives on current developments and opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in quality infrastructure.

The meeting focused on advancing shared priorities in five critical areas:

  • Strengthening strategic standardisation and cooperation in international standardisation activities
  • Enhancing regulatory alignment and conformity assessment systems to facilitate trade and market access
  • Promoting consumer protection and product safety through effective legal metrology and quality infrastructure frameworks
  • Advancing machinery safety and compliance with international requirements
  • Driving the digitalisation of quality infrastructure through interoperable digital tools and data-driven approaches

 

The discussions reaffirmed the importance of continued Indo-German cooperation in strengthening quality infrastructure systems that support innovation, facilitate trade and enhance consumer protection.
