Looking Back: Strengthening Brazil–Germany Cooperation in Quality Infrastructure

Brazil

In October, the GPQI Brazil team joined the Inmetro International Technical Cooperation Division on a strategic mission to Germany to deepen cooperation in Quality Infrastructure (QI) and advance digital transformation in the field.

From October 8–9, GPQI and Inmetro took part in the QI-Digital Forum 2025 at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Berlin. QI-Digital is a joint initiative of German institutions, BAM, DAkkS, DIN, DKE, and PTB, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The forum, held under the motto “Bits, bytes and QI – creating trust. Enabling innovation. Securing prosperity” brought together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how digitalisation is shaping the future of QI.

Key Takeaways for the mission:

  • Digitalisation and Trust: Building confidence in AI-based and digital systems through harmonised standards, innovative testing, and international cooperation.
  • Agile and Sustainable QI: Highlighting QI’s role in driving the green transition, social well-being, and competitiveness.
  • Transparency in Value Chains: Exploring Dataspaces and the Digital Product Passport (DPP) to strengthen transparency and traceability worldwide.

A strategic highlight of the mission was a bilateral meeting on October 10 between Inmetro and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). This meeting provided an essential platform for discussing crucial topics such as market surveillance and e-commerce, fostering a collaborative dialogue that is vital for enhancing bilateral cooperation.
